Many people search for this question online. For people in the industry, this is straightforward; but for those new to the field, it is a common question that deserves a clear answer.
Double-wall corrugated pipes are not connected using hot-melt sockets, hot-melt butt joints, or electric fuse sockets like PE solid-wall pipes. PE solid-wall pipes have a relatively simple structure that allows for a variety of connection methods.
Double-wall corrugated pipe, also called HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe, has a smooth and flat inner wall and a corrugated outer wall. Its main purpose is drainage and sewage. Due to the special structure of the crest and trough on the outer wall, it is not suitable for electrothermal fusion connection.
The most suitable connection method for double wall corrugated pipes is the socket connection. If you look at these pipes, you will notice that the two ends are different — one has a flared structure (the bell end) and the other has a smaller diameter (the spigot end).
The two pipes can be perfectly inserted together through this structure. The correct orientation is:
This orientation ensures the connection is much safer from leakage, as water pressure pushes the joint tighter rather than forcing it apart.
