Despite being lightweight, HDPE corrugated pipes offer excellent structural strength. Ring stiffness grades can reach SN4 and SN8, providing reliable performance under soil loads and traffic.
After the introduction of standard corrugated pipe technology in China, engineers developed an enhanced version by adding a steel strip reinforcement. This is commonly called steel belt corrugated pipe. Simply put, molten polyethylene is wound on the surface of a steel strip, creating an enhanced double-wall corrugated pipe with superior ring stiffness.
If there is a strong load on the buried surface — such as under roads, parking areas, or heavy industrial zones — select a steel strip corrugated pipe with a higher ring stiffness rating for laying. For standard drainage and sewage applications, regular HDPE double-wall corrugated pipes at SN4 or SN8 are typically sufficient.
